Meet Ben & Angel

Ben & Angel are offered as a complete adult male-and-female Moluccan Cockatoo pair.

Both birds are 4 years old and have been described as hand tamed, cage trained, weaned and DNA tested. Their established training provides a foundation for continued interaction, handling and positive-reinforcement training in their new home.

Every parrot has an individual personality, so prospective owners are encouraged to ask for current information about Ben and Angel’s behavior, interaction preferences, handling routine and compatibility before purchasing.

Moluccan Cockatoo Temperament

Moluccan Cockatoos are known for being highly intelligent, social and emotionally expressive. They can develop strong relationships with their caregivers and enjoy interaction, play and enrichment.

They are also among the more demanding companion parrots. Their large size, powerful beak, high activity level and substantial vocalizations mean that owners should be prepared for a significant long-term commitment.

A suitable home should provide consistent social interaction, safe exercise, enrichment and opportunities for natural behaviors such as climbing, chewing and foraging.

Ben & Angel – Personality & Socialization

Ben and Angel are offered as hand-tamed adult Moluccan Cockatoos.

Their new family should continue their socialization and training using calm handling and positive reinforcement. Regular interaction and enrichment can help maintain desirable companion-bird behaviors.

Useful enrichment can include:

• Bird-safe chewing materials
• Foraging activities
• Puzzle toys
• Supervised exploration
• Positive-reinforcement training
• Regular social interaction
• Appropriate climbing and exercise opportunities

Moluccan Cockatoos are intelligent birds that benefit from an environment that gives them opportunities to stay mentally and physically active.

Diet & Nutrition

Ben and Angel are fully weaned and can maintain a balanced diet suitable for adult Moluccan Cockatoos.

Their diet can include quality formulated parrot pellets together with appropriate fresh vegetables, leafy greens, measured quantities of suitable seeds and nuts, and appropriate fruits.

Fresh food and clean drinking water should be provided regularly. Captive cockatoos should not rely exclusively on a seed-heavy diet; portion control and nutritional balance are important. Moluccan Cockatoos naturally consume foods including nuts, fruits, berries and other plant material.

Suggested Daily Foods

• Quality formulated parrot pellets
• Fresh vegetables and leafy greens
• Appropriate fruit in moderation
• Controlled amounts of suitable seeds
• Appropriate nuts in moderation
• Fresh, clean drinking water

Their diet should be adjusted according to individual body condition, activity level and guidance from an avian veterinarian.

Cage Training & Housing

Ben and Angel are cage trained, but their new home should provide a large, secure and durable environment appropriate for two large cockatoos.

Moluccan Cockatoos have powerful beaks and require sturdy, bird-safe equipment. Provide appropriately sized perches, durable toys and safe materials for chewing.

Because they are highly active and social birds, cage time should be balanced with appropriate supervised exercise and interaction outside the enclosure.

Health & DNA Testing

Ben and Angel are offered in good health and are DNA tested.

DNA testing can confirm the sex of each bird, while a veterinary examination is the appropriate method for assessing an individual bird’s health.

We recommend that prospective owners establish a relationship with an avian veterinarian and arrange appropriate examinations and ongoing preventive care.

Available DNA records, health documentation and other applicable paperwork can be discussed with prospective buyers before purchase.

Important Information About Moluccan Cockatoos

Moluccan Cockatoos are long-term companion birds and require a serious commitment to proper nutrition, veterinary care, housing, enrichment and social interaction.

They can also be very loud. Prospective owners should consider their household environment, neighbors, available space and ability to provide daily interaction before purchasing a pair.

Moluccan Cockatoos are also a CITES Appendix I species, reflecting significant international conservation protections. Any international movement or trade must comply with applicable CITES and national wildlife regulations, and buyers should verify the documentation and legal requirements applicable to their location.
